Been on PPIs 2 weeks now for ulcers. Yet my symptoms continue. im thinking I should test for parasites (shouldve done it months ago)
Are stool tests valid for parasites when on PPIs?

Parasites such as giardia.

yup. PPI wont affect parasites.

what sort of symptoms are you experiencing?

Lost 20 lbs. Constipation/ stool changes. Extremely gassy. Need to burp ALOT to relieve pressure. Anxiety (which could just be from life...but feels abnormal) etc. Thought Pylori but had the colonoscopy...biopsy negative with small stomach ulcers.

Colleague had same symptoms (including the belching) and was diagnosed with giardia. So I thought a stool test might produce a clue.

What do you think?

these are not typical H. pylori symptoms.

Anxiety can sometimes contribute to the symptoms above.

small stomach ulcers may cause pain and maybe some gastric symptoms. For these, you will need PPI to help the healing.

Im sorry. These symptoms listed at Mayo clinic are

An ache or burning pain in your abdomen
Abdominal pain that's worse when your stomach is empty
Nausea
Loss of appetite
Frequent burping
Bloating
Unintentional weight loss

When I said "gassy" I mean bloating and ridiculous burping. Which i have to do to relieve the pain.

yea.. these sounds more like H. pylori symptoms.

The burping however, can be triggered by anxiety. I know someone who is negative of H. pylori and burps crazily during stress. For example being on stage or having deadline.
