So late Oct early November I went to Ghana on holiday. About 4 days into the holiday I experienced stomach issues (slight pain in stomach and diahrrea). The pain and Diahrrea continued for 3 weeks after returning to England (my brother had the same issue but his lasted a week after and my wife had bloating issues).
Anyway went and got tested for parasites twice and it was negative. They did a bacterial stool test as well and again negative.
I left it as all my symptoms pretty much went away except stomach rumbling. My missus went doctors a couple of weeks ago and was diagnosed with H.pylori. this promted me to go and i was also diagnosed yesterday.
Thing is....I have no real issues anymore except stomach sounds. Is there a need to do the triple therapy?

Hi, has the wife been giving the triple therapy ? what where her symptoms where they worse than yours ? my symptoms are just like yours just at the minute im getting stuffy nose not sure if its related some say its not some say it is, plus im thinking the same, shall I take the triple therapy if offered but im going to, better safe than sorry ya could be losing valuable time, what happens if ya symptoms worsen ? your treatment might find it difficult to eradicate it the worse ya get, at least at the minute if ya not too bad then it might be easier to eradicate it without much after effects that's my thought anyway, I don't want to wait till it gets worse then again it might not.

i agree. prevention is better cure. dont wait till you have symptom. Also, with your HP eradicated, it prevents spreading back to your wife.

Hi mate
Her symptoms were a noisy stomach and cramps/bloating.
She completed her triple therapy with no side effects except diahrrea one day/occasion and cramping 1 day.

Fyi doc has put me on
amoxicillin,(500mg) x 2, twice a day
metronidazole,(400mg) x 1 twice a day
lansoprazole,(30mg) x 1, twice a day
7 days
Is it good to take a decent probiotic whilst on this?

it usually get worse as the antibiotics get more concentrated in your body.
try to distract yourself by doing something you enjoy. The more you think about it, the more likely you'll get the symptom.
you can also try mint tea or probiotics to reduce the symptoms.

Hi, if I look at it from my experience, you did well to do the treatment. I had a similar experuence to yours in Vietnam. Then it got better for a year. Then I went to Ghana. Same thing again. It got slightly better but I fully broke down 3 months after. They still did nit really find what I have. They diagnosed fructose malabsorptio . Was following a very strict diet. No sugar, little fat. Got slowly better but never good. After a year or so, new break down. After three month they found the helicobacter. According to my medical history they think I had them since childhood. Had a strong treatment. Plenty of things I would never have thought could be linked to my burpling stimach are gone like back ache, painful spots on my jaws, depression, etc.
Good luck with the treatment, it was worth it for me!

Thanks mate.
So I finished the treatment yesterday evening. Wasn't terrible to be honest and a few side effects (looser stools and gurgling stomach worse than before).
What can I now do to aid the recovery process? I know Pro biotics are good and I'm taking them but what else can I take?. Anything to calm down a loud stomach? And when will my stool return to normal generally speaking. Thanks again guys.
