Hi all,
Firstly, thank you for this great forum as I’ve learned a lot about the HP from here.

I was myself diagnosed with HP back in August after suffering a little bit with the symptoms, mainly chest pan and abdominal pain, I was scared as my dad passed away last year with stomach cancer which no one suspected that he had never.

Went to my GP and told him what was going on and straight way sent to do a breath test, came back positive, (I don’t know the unit of measurement but it was 1200) and had to do the triple treatment for 10 days, but what did make it hard for me was tha just after finishing the treatment had an upper chest infection twice in a raw and I had to take more antibiotics which caused a lot of stomach cramps, 4 weeks after that went back to retest for HP and came back negative( this time 6).2 weeks ago have stopped taking Nexium which I was taking for 6 weeks.

Now I’m feeling much better with a little bit of acid reflux but just when I eat food that trigger it.

I will definitely go back to the GP to retest after 3 months

sounds like you were on PPI when you did your breath test 4 weeks after treatment.

PPI can give false negative result. So please remember to do another follow up to confirm the eradication.

here is a guideline how to use the breath test kit.

No I wasn’t, for some reason I have stoped taking the PPI when I finished my treatment, that’s why the GP sent me to retest again, and after the test I’ve started the PPI again for 6 weeks.

Hi all,

I thought i will share this good news with you all, have done my 3 months follow up, (breath test) and this came back negative for HP, I’m still feeling a little pain at the upper abdomen so I’m booked now for a Gastroscopy as an extra check up and hopefully all good!!!
