Hello Everyone ,my name is Raisa and I have just recently been diagnosed with H Pylori .My journey started with three nights of extreme chest and back tightness that would come and go .I tried to ignore it hoping it will pass however it just kept coming back.I decided to call my husband from work to take me to the ER.At the ER they ran all blood tests and heart workups and said eveything is well and sent me on my way with Ibuprofen.I developed other symptoms such as nausea ,lack of appetite ,fatigue, sleep disturbance .I went to see my GP and he suggested it might be GERD but was also suspecting H Pylori.I did the breath test which came back positive. I was given the treatment and my symptoms have decreased except for the loss of appetite .This bacteria has put a lot of stress in my life and I have fear of it getting worse .Thanks for taking the time to read my story.

thanks for sharing your story. usually people who successfully eradicate H. pylori will have appetite improved, and gain weight. Your lost of appetite is probably due to the side effects of antibiotics. Try to follow the doctor's instruction as strictly as possible and finish every single tablets. Compliance is an important key to successfully eradicate H. pylori and prevent antibiotic resistance.

Thanks for replying .My Dr suggested to continue taking prilosec for 3 weeks after I finish my antibiotics .Should I still continue taking antiacids after the treatment ?

Yeah I think you should, my GP told me that the reason behind it is letting any damage that the bacteria may have caused to the stomach lining heal properly as acid may affect the healing process.

I have recently found out that i have h pylori and have been prescribed
that following medication for 7 days.

Acid suppressant
omeprazole 20 mg twice daily

Antibacterials
amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times a day
metronidazole 400 mg 3 times a day

Is it okay to start this treatment a day after taking mebendazole.

I need some advice on how to make the treatment more effective, what diet
to follow and possible side effects. I understand that everyone responds
completely different to treatment but this is the first being on
antibiotics so any feedback and advice would very much appreciated.

I think you will need to wait a few days for the mebendazole to go out of your system before taking the metronidazole, amoxicillin treatment.

mebendazole can interact with metronidazole. please talk to your doctor about it.
