Feel like something is stuck in the back of my throat. Help!

Firstly, I am so so glad to have found this forum. I was diagnosed with H pylori about 10 days ago but have probably had it for a while and never got it checked out cause of my fear of doctors...symptoms have been there for many months.
Anyway, I'm now on the typical triple treatment; amoxicillin, clarithromycin and oemprazol. Seems to be going well, I guess. I still have symptoms but they seem to be getting somewhat better.
One thing that particularly concerns me and the doctor said nothing about is this constant feeling like something is stuck in the back of my throat. No back pain or anything of that sort and this isn't in the lower part of the esophagus. Its right at the end of my throat...I'm getting very very concerned that it might be cancer and want an endoscopy but I only have student insurance and trips to the doctor, a procedure like an endoscopy and anesthesia for the procedure would cost me wayyy too much and I would love to avoid it if I have no reason to worry.
Just wanted to get some info or help from people here. I browsed around and searched the forums but found nothing similar to this issue. It is not painful as much, makes swallowing just a little hard I guess but the constant feeling concerns me. Specially because I smoke cigarettes and am VERY worried about cancer. I am quitting the cigarettes and have started on nicotine gum.
As background I am 20 and male. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
