Was it actually H. Pylori causing symptoms?

Hi Folks,
Almost a couple months ago I had a fairly severe bout of constipation (soft stools but had to strain). I self-treated myself using a combination of laxatives - Miralax, Metamucil, and Dulcolax. The symptoms included feeling full and some abdominal discomfort. I was eating normally and had no loss of appetite. The symptoms got gradually worse. I continued with the laxatives. A week later I had a big bowel movement and felt I cleaned out.
Immediately after the bowel movement I felt sick to my stomach. I had no appetite, severe nausea, abdominal pain and bloating. I rushed to the ER in the morning. CT scan and the blood work was all normal. I was diagnosed with slow transit constipation. I had never gone through something like this in the past. It developed very acutely.
After a couple weeks, I still had discomfort associated with indigestion. My appetite was mostly gone. My GI tested me for H. Pylori and it came out positive. Since I was born and spent a lot of time in a developing country, this was hardly a surprise. He mentioned that it is likely that with what my digestive system went through in the past weeks, it may have activated the symptoms of H. Pylori. Which sounds very weird to me. Does this seem plausible to anyone?
He put me on the triple therapy for H. Pylori. It's been four weeks now and I have on and off the same symptoms as I had. I also have some upper abdominal pain which I didn't have before. I almost regret treating H. Pylori. It seems that my issues would have resolved on their own with time.
Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks all.
