Hello everyone!
I was first diagnosed with H Pylori on 23/7/2013, and my doctor put me on Nexium 20mg (Esomeprazole) and O2 (Ofloxacin & Ornidazole) for one week and then he put me on Nexium 20mg (Esomeprazole), Claritek (Clarithromycin) and Glomox 1000mg (Amoxicilin) for two weeks. At first, I felt better, ant the symptoms of H pylori disappeared. Unfortunately, I felt sick again after six months, and I went to my doctor, and he ran a few tests and told me that I have H Pylori again. He prescribed me the same medicines. I took them and I felt better again. I thought it would never come back again. However, I was diagnosed with it again last month. My doctor changed the prescription a little bit. He gave me Nexium 40mg (Esomeprazole), Tavacin 500mg (Levofloxacin), and Glomox 1000mg (Amoxicilin) for two weeks. I took them regularly and never skipped one. On the first five days, I felt as if I was myself again, but the rest of the days I felt as if the symptoms of H Pylori came again. I did not stop using my medication, and I went to my doctor after I finished them. He gave me Nexium 40mg (Esomeprazole) again and told me to take it for two weeks. I am now on Nexium 40mg, but I still have the symptoms. My doctor also told me that I will have to wait for at least two weeks until I can get myself checked again. I now have the symptoms that I used to have before the medication and I do not know what to do. I feel so desperate. I am in Yemen, and the situation here is very devastating. Please, help me. Do you have any suggestion?

Hi, thank you for sharing your story. Your last treatment is a good one. However, H. pylori has the ability to quickly mutate and become resistant to it. I agree to what your doctor said. Let's wait for at least another 2 weeks and repeat the test. If it is still positive, then you can discuss with your doctor about the next treatment plan. Maybe talk to him about the possibility of getting the antibiotic sensitivity testing.

He actually suggested the sensitivity test. But I have to wait at least two weeks after completing the medication. I forgot to tell you in my previous post that I used to get gastric ulcers when I was a kid, but I used to eat a lot of spicy food. However, when I cut down on fatty and spicy food, I got better and stopped having ulcers. Could it be that I have had H Pylori ever since.

I also have good news. After I wrote this post yesterday, I went home and I had my dinner then I took a spoon of curcumin and a spoon of black seed. I woke up in the morning feeling better. The symptoms seem to have fade away. I also did the same today. I took a spoon curcumin, a spoon of black seed and a spoon of thyme. I feel good now. I also want to draw your attention to the fact that I am now on Nexium 40mg.

Thank you for your reply.

Good to know. Try relax a little bit and wait for the breath test. Have to make sure the evil HP is eradicated or else your symptoms will just keep coming back.

In addition, have your family member under the same roof get check for HP?

unfortunately, they haven't. I told them to go and get themselves checked, but they don't seem to care.

you can assume they are a carrier and try avoid sharing food, kissing and watch out for personal hygiene. eg. wash hands after toilet.

I don't actually rule out that possibility, and I always try to avoid sharing food with them because I worry that I could infect them. As for personal hygiene, I am a very hygienist person. I always wash my hands with Dettol.

Thank you so much,
Your words make me feel even better.

Hi Doctor!
I just want to tell you that I am going to do a UBT in five days, and I still feel the symptoms. Just in case the test comes out positive, what do you recommend me to do? Do you recommend a quadruple course? If yes, what antibiotics do you recommend? If no, what else should I do?

Thank you so much!

the resistance pattern is different in every country. Your specialist would know what's best.

Nevertheless, you can discuss with your doctor about these quadruple therapies that we tried.

Thanks for your response.
My doctor is not a specialist. He has an MSc in GI, and that's why I'm asking you.
I'm in Yemen, and we are at war. Most of the specialists fled the country. Our health conditions are poor even before war. I'm getting weaker and weaker everyday.
Thank you anyway!
