Hi Guys

I got the triple cocktail of drugs last May and eradicated hpylori, breath test confirmed this a month later.

Its been a long journey since then, felt worse than i did before.

I want to ask something... My doctor gave me the triple dose, and the acid suppressors for a week and thats it!!! I had no other help at all... To this day I still get the symptoms.. Pain just under left rib and center of stomach, burping off and on for long periods. Things like orange juice and citrus hurt my stomach, feel i get full easy on food and cant really tolerate alcohol, when i sleep i wake up with heart palps until i burp, stingy feeling in the center... My question is, should the doctor have kept me on acid suppressors for a period after the eradication to heal whatever was left? and if not what condition I am in now?? And what steps should I take next?

if in doubt, why not get another breath test? perhaps you got reinfected from your family members.

if still HP negative, i suggest you to do an endoscopy checkup.

I am not married or have a g/f so re infection is something that could not happen. My brother was tested twice and twice negative.

It is actually very difficult to get reinfection unless you have someone living under the same roof being a carrier.

in your case, i would go for a second opinion and get a second breath test. However, you'll have to make sure you to stop any acid suppressant for at least 3 weeks before the test. Alternatively, you can follow the guideline in choosing your acid suppressant prior the test.
