Tetracycline and Amoxicillin combination has been on debate for long. I think there are more publication that suggest they dont work together than those supporting it.
The theory is because tetracycline is bacteriostatic, which inhibit protein synthesis. So without the ability to make proteins, H. pylori stop growing, waiting to be killed by acid or immune system.
On the other hand, the amoxicillin is a bactericidal that kills active growing bacteria by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis. you can imagine that the bacteria actively trying to duplicate but there is no cell wall. So they lysed.
it is known that bacteriostatic and bactericidal cannot work together as they contradict each other. But, theory is theory. Biology is very complex. Some studies still able to produce good cure rate from this combination which is not yet understood.
