Thanks for your response Helico_expert. My test result was 13 dpm. Back in Feb before testing negative my GP did suggest to do a endoscopy as well, since I tested negative there was no nees to do one. What do you suggest in this case, please?

Thanks

is the cut off 50 dpm?
if so, 13 is pretty low. So i would say it's likely a true negative.

There is no need for an endoscopy unless your doctor thinks that you might have an ulcer or if you are over 50 years old.

Hi Helio_Expert,

Yes, the cut off is anything less than 50 DPM.

I spoke to the GP this morning and he was suggesting to continue with Esomeprazole 20mg and could possibly do another UBT or Endoscopy which I am not sure about at the moment. I may wait for some more days to see how I go with Esomeprazole and decide.

Taking Esomeprazole has subsided my symptoms a bit but burning sensation and light pain persists for most of the time during the day.

Thanks,
Imran

ok. but remember that you need to stop esomerpazole for 2-4 weeks before the next breath test.

Very similar situation for me

I finished the triple therapy treatment in January and since then I have tested negative twice in March and again in May (stool test ). But I still get bouts of acid reflux

Most common symptoms being something stuck in the throat or a burning sensation in the upper middle abdominal.

Can helicobacter mess up your natural acidity levels such that even after eradication the acidity keeps fluctuating?

BTW I have been off omeprazole since 28 February. Only taking anti acid as and when needed

Some days I am fine like I never had any acidity issues

Most importantly, do you know if you still had H. pylori?
It is known that some patients can experience reflux symptoms after H. pylori eradication. But usually they will return to normal in time (weeks, months, or years).

Hi Helico_expert

As I mentioned i have take 2 stool test for helicobacter after the triple therapy treatment and both returned negative.

The first was 2 months after the treatment and the second was 4 months after. We can only do stool test here in the UK. Breath test is not very common

stool antigen test is pretty accurate. But they can sometimes be affected by PPI too.

Is PPI able to control your reflux symptom?

Hi Helico_expert

I stopped PPI on 28 February and haven't taken one since.

My first stool test was on 19 March and the second was end of May.

The issue with omeprazole for me is that it takes at least a week to work fully and when I stop there is the acid rebound effect. Not sure if there is another medication which works faster and does not increase acid secretion after stopping
