Constant nausea for 2 months

The various unpleasant manifestations of Helicobacter can be described here. Remember however that the great majority of persons with Hp have no symptoms that they are aware of and consider themselves normal.

Constant nausea for 2 months

Post by Bunkergeist »

Hey,

Firstly, sorry for my bad english. It's not my native language.

Well, I feel sick (nauseaous) for 2 months. Sometimes its goin harsh, sometimes better than it but it's constant. I have no stomach pain or something like that. I also feel lethargic and some burping. My GI doctor said me that it's dyspepsia and he gave me PPI (Nexium) but it does not solve the prob. By the way, I have lactose intolerance.

I'm in doubt about HP infection. I read that guys with HP infection feel nausea all time and gettin fatigue.

I have no test for HP, I'm in still PPI.

I've really tired because of this.

What do you guys recommend for me?

Cheers,

You'll need to find out if you have H. pylori. Since you are on PPI, perhaps you can consider blood test. If you are positive of H. pylori, then we can discuss how to treat it. Otherwise, we are just guessing.

I have got my appointment for endoscopy on monday but I'm still on PPI. My GI doctor just said me you have to be hungry etc. Do PPI prevent to see HP infection during endoscopy?

By the way, I felt nausea for 1.5 months last year. Stool test for HP infection was negative (I was on PPI once again) but my doctor recommended me "test and treat" method and he gave me tripple treatment and I healed about one week after I finish the drug box.

PPI can affect stool test and CLOtest during endoscopy. So, your doctor will need to get histology to determine your infection status.

So when did you finish your treatment? I think it's more meaningful to do your endoscopy check at least a month after your treatment.

Hey,

Just got home from endoscopy. I said to my doctor, I have on PPI atm and he said it can't affect pathology report during endoscopy, we can see HP infection if there is. It just can affect breath test, so there'll be no prob.

I did not finish the treatment. I'm still using nexium.

So should I give blood for HP infection then?

Let's wait for your pathology report and see what it says. Since your doctor did not tell you anything special after the endoscopy, most likely he did not see anything serious. So I think you dont need to worry too much about it. Now we just need to know if there is H. pylori and if there is, you just need a treatment. Your doctor will sort you out.

Hey,

Got biopsy report. HP negative. I have hemorrhagic chronic antral gastritis. Worried about "hemorrhagic" I said my worries to my doc and he says it does not matter, you have just gastritis. He gave me Nexium and Itopride.

What do you think, helico expert?

if there is no the term "active", it most probably mean it in the progress of healing.
Hemorrhagic gastritis is normally associated with NSAIDs and alcohol. So you probably have to skip those for a while.
Like the doctor says, keep taking Nexium for a month or two. If you want, you can arrange another endoscopy to check the progress of healing.

I would like to trust your doctor's experience. So I would say no. You dont need a blood test. However, blood test is relatively cheap. If you want a peace of mind, you can do it. If it is negative, then you have never been infected by H. pylori. If it is positive, it only means at some time point in your life, you were infected once. The breath/stool test and histology tells you your current infection status.
